Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness(BCA) month and many brands are doing their part to donate a percentage of proceeds to the cause. Breast cancer, as with all cancers, is not prejudice; it can strike the young or old, male or female(yes, men can get breast cancer too!), rich or poor.

Let's start this off with a bang.
Palmer's has teamed up with us for a Breast Cancer Awareness giveaway. This year Palmer's released four PINK products: Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion, Massage Lotion & Massage Cream for Stretch Marks and Firming Butter. For every sale of their PINK line, Palmer’s will donate $0.25 CAD to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. One lucky winner will win a gift bag containing all four Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula PINK products, 2 regular Palmer’s products (Concentrated Cream & Swivel Stick) and a lovely Moleskin journal. To enter, leave a comment(click here) with how you helped or plan on helping the cause. Don't forget to leave your name and email address!

There are many other products in the market that will donate a portion of the proceed to the cause. Just be aware and look for the pink ribbon on the product or packaging. Below are are a few.

Clinique, Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, $45.50. This limited edition bottle comes complete with a Pink Ribbon heart charm and Clinique "C" charm. Ten dollars from each sale in October will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This popular lotion is sold every 5 seconds, so Clinique decided to put purpose onto its popularity. An iconic product for an iconic cause. Available at The Bay, Sears, Holt Renfrew, Ogilvy and Sephora.

Joico, duo pack, $30. $10,000 will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Consumers receive a 25% saving on this duo pack consisting of either Joico's JoiMist Firm Classic holding spray or JoiWhip styling foam. JoiMist is an aerosol spray that resists humidity while protecting against environmental damages. JoiWhip is enhanced with Hawaiian Kukui nut oil, known for healing properties and allows for a flexible and finished look. These duos are available at select salons and spas.

Avon, Breast Cancer Crusade Bracelet, $3.95. As a symbol of hope, wear your heart on your sleeve with this bracelet, where 100% of the proceeds will go towards the cause. Don't forget to go
to the My Avon Canada Facebook page to share photos, stories, videos and wall posts for more symbols of hope. The Breast Cancer Crusade Bracelet is available through Avon Independent Sales Representatives, 1-800-265-AVON or online at www.avon.ca.

Yves Rocher, Arnica Essentiel Daily Moisturizer Hand Cream, $4.95. For the second year in a row, Yves Rocher is launching a special edition of their best selling cream. Two dollars from each sale will go towards the Look Good Feel Better Program, a national charitable program which helps women with cancer overcome the effects of the illness and its treatment on their appearance. Available in all Yves Rocher stores.

Tweezerman, Pink Ribbon Slant Tweezer, $25. For every pair sold, Tweezerman will donate $1 to Rethink Breast Cancer, a Canadian charity helping
young people who are concerned about and affected by breast cancer through innovative breast cancer education, research and supportive care programs. In the month of October, look out for this special edition pair of tweezers to keep your eyebrows tamed and in check, while also fighting for a cause. Available at Shopper Drug Mart, London Drugs, Rexall PharmaPlus, Jean Coutu, Lawton's and other retailers.

We also have to remember to be vigilant, get regular exams, live a healthy lifestyle, eat the right food and get the proper exercise. Let us not forget that this is still a big killer and we need to continue our fight against Breast Cancer.

  14. Hi. I am volunteering for a Working Women's Group - 85 Broads - and we are holding a fundraiser on November 22, 2010 for the launch of the Canadian chapter of our organization 85 Broads. This will be held at the Duke of Westminster pub from 5:30-8:00 pm on the theme Women and Laughter given as a witty speech by National Speakers Bureau of Canada speaker and Laughologist Albert Nerenberg. Proceeds from this event will go to Breast Cancer research and we hope to get a sponsor to match our fundraising.
