Behind the Scenes

Chanel, Tom Ford, Tod's and Prada - other than being luxury brands what else do they have
in common? We already know their multifaceted talents in the fashion world but now they are taking another step in branching out. Chanel and Tom Ford have come out with movies in the past year and Tods and Prada have their own books.

It is the latest craze. Even Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, came out her movie, The September Issue, to show us that the magazine business isn’t all glitz and glamour.

These outlets allow us to enter into the lives of the designers, design houses and editors. We can see what goes on behind the scenes in a world that seems so glamourous. The only exception being Tom Ford's The Single Man. This movie isn't about his fashions but instead his creative eye, since he is the director and screenplay writer.

There are many misconceptions about the fashion industry. It isn’t as simple and superficial as it seems. The fashion world involves many intricacies and although many people might not want to admit it, it surrounds us. Some laugh at the expressions “dress to impress” and “fashion fiasco”, and although the fashion police doesn’t really exist, the clothing that we decide to put on our bodies makes a huge statement about who we are.

If you want to take a glimpse into the worlds of Chanel, Tom Ford, Tod's, Prada and Vogue, you don’t need to intern or work there, just make your way to the theatre or book store!
