Cashmere's Fashion with Compassion

Cashmere's sixth annual Fashion with Compassion took place this week at the St. Lawrence Hall. Some of Canada's top designers including Greta Constantine, Sunny Fong, Paul Hardy and Carlie Wong (dress pictured left) presented their amazing designs from daywear to evening to lingerie, hats and accessories. All of which was created from the soft and luxurious white and limited-edition pink Cashmere bathroom tissue. The pink Cashmere tissue is designed to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, with twenty-five cents from the sale of every package sold going to the foundation.

Promoted on Project Runway Canada was a national competition that challenged Canadians to create original bathroom tissue couture from 100 per cent pure, soft and luxurious Cashmere - Canada's best-selling bathroom tissue. This is their first consumer fashion design contest. An 18 year old Thornhill native who's in first year at George Brown, Carol Ching (winning dress pictured right), edged out more than 40 entries to take the crown. Her designed took a total of 66 rolls of bathroom tissue and more than 100 hours to complete, a three month process. She is thrilled and excited to have received this honour. I had the luxury of meeting and chatting with Carol and she indicated that Sunny Fong gave her inspiration and will look to him as a mentor.

With pink and white bathroom tissue in our households, it is bound to be a better place - or at least a prettier one.
