Perfect Skin - Here I Come!

With the change of weather, comes a change in skin appearance. How do we keep our skin from looking oily while also keeping it hydrated? With (very tempermental) combination skin myself, I set out to find a solution to my problem. There are many products on the market but it’s hard to determine what works for you. This about working with your skin instead of against your skin. There are a variety of products out there, the one’s below are ones that are tried, tested and true. My goal is to minimize imperfections while keeping my skin looking healthy and radiant – why not help you do the same?

Acne Prone Skin
Healthy skin starts with a healthy skin care regimen. Dermalogica has developed a new line called Clean Start(pictured right), which includes eight products to help you combat moody skin. The key to fighting acne is to wash away bacteria. The Body Shop has their Tea Tree line which includes a foaming face cleanser that gets rid of bacteria but does not strip the skin of its natural moisture. If you need spot control, Marcelle has come out with an anti-imperfection line called the AC-Solution. They have a blemish wand that targets blemishes. The Body Shop also has a blemish wand, their Tea Tree Blemish Gel – these two spot treatment products are also small enough to fit into your purse.

Lightweight Moisturizers
Moisturizing is a key component to healthy skin. With oily skin, you need a lightweight moisturizer that regulates the production of sebum. Biotherm’s Biopure SOS Normalizer(pictured left) helps diminish skin imperfections(redness, bacteria) while regulating spikes in sebum protection. Proactiv has their Daily Oil Control Lotion is gentle and oil free and helps skin balance its own natural oil levels. Marcelle’s AC-Solution Oil-Free Moisturizing Lotion is lightweight, reduces shine and (my favourite aspect) improves the skin appearance to even out skin tone. These three products are great lightweight options. They make your skin feel softer instantly and they are all lightweight enough to wear daily under make-up.

Dry Skin
You know your skin needs moisture when it starts to flake. Dry skin makes your complexion look dull and flat. It can also be very uncomfortable. If you haven’t tried a gel cream, you have to go out and grab Marcelle’s Hydra-C ComplexE 24Hour Moisturizing Gel Cream. This non-sticky, non-greasy, fast absorbing formula gives your skin optimal hydration while calming and soothing the skin. The gel gives your skin a refreshing cool feel. Biotherm created Nutrisource for very dry skin – with Nutrisource your skin will feel immediately soothed and intensely nourished. Nivea also has a rich moisture day care and rich moisture night care lotion. You also want to keep your body hydrated. Olay Quench Advanced Body Lotion(pictured above right) is non-greasy and helps strengthen the skins moisture barrier over time. Vaseline Sheer Infusion moisturizes across all layers of the skin to provide the ultimate in hydration. These products help your skin lock in moisture to keep your skin looking fresh rather than flat.

These are just a few products that can help you take care of your skin. But the most important aspect of healthy skin is a healthy lifestyle and drinking plenty of water(8 glasses a day!)

It is the first thing people see, so invest in yourself and put your best skin forward.
