October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Did you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian women? 11% of Canadian women develop breast cancer during their lifetime. I'm sure this isn't anything you haven't heard before. But his is terrifying. Think about nine women you know, they can be friends, family or co-workers - according to statistics, one of those nine will develop breast cancer. Enough with the bad news, on to the good stuff...
There is a brightside. Only one in twenty eight Canadian women will die from breast cancer. This means that about two-thirds will live through it. People are constantly donating and helping to make a difference. As consumers, we can also support the cause. There are many products out there that are supporting the cause. A few of which are:
LaCoupe hair care is becoming a key sponsor of the Look Good Feel Better Campaign, a national non-profit program dedicated to empowering women to manage the appearance-related effects of cancer and its treatment. Ten percent of the proceeds from the sales of LaCoupe's Fragrance Free products support Look Good Feel Better.
Estee Lauder is offering a Pink Ribbon Collection comprised of: Evelyn Lauder Lip Set($30), Elizabeth Hurley Lip Set($30 - Pictured Right), Jeweled Pink Ribbon Pin($18), Double Sided Mirror Compact($80), Advanced Night Repair($93) and last but not least, their Beautiful fragrance($85). They will be donating $100,000 from their sales of the Pink Ribbon Collection to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Yves Rocher, the creator of botanical beauty, is releasing a limited edition Arnica Essentiel Daily Moisturizer Hand Cream for $4.95. This hand cream is enriched with organic arnica to protect and moisturize. $2 from every hand cream sold will be donated to the Look Good Feel Better Program.
